Homemade Butterscotch Sauce

½ cup unsalted butter 1 cup packed dark brown sugar ½ teaspoon large-flake salt 1 cup heavy cream 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

In a medium, heavy-bottomed saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Use a rubber spatula to stir in the brown sugar, salt, and heavy cream.

Bring the mixture to a boil and cook for 5 minutes, while occasionally scraping down the sides. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla.
