In a saucepan, combine apples, water, sugar, and cinnamon.
Cover and cook over medium heat for 15 to 20 minutes, or until apples are soft.
Allow to cool, then mash with a fork or potato masher.
Notes
Too thick: If the applesauce is too thick, add more water to thin it out.Adjust sweetness: If it's not sweet enough, add more sugar to taste. If it's too sweet, add 1-2 tablespoons lemon juice.Storage: Your homemade applesauce will keep for 1 to 2 weeks in the refrigerator.Makes about 1.5 cups.
