This Carne Asada Marinade recipe is loaded with authentic Mexican flavor. It’s zesty from the fresh citrus juices and vibrant with fresh cilantro. Chipotle peppers add a lovely smokiness while soy sauce, garlic, brown sugar, chili powder, and cumin season it to perfection.

You’ll get the best flavor by allowing the meat to marinade for at least 4 hours before grilling. But if you can wait, an overnight marinade will yield the best results.

  • Leave and stems of cilantro are fine to use. There’s a lot of flavor in the stems!
  • Allow the meat to marinate for at least 4 hours for it to soak up all the delicious flavor of the marinade.
