This creamy dill sauce is the perfect condiment to serve alongside your favorite seafood. It uses simple ingredients and there’s no cooking involved. It calls for ready-made refrigerator ingredients that you mix with fresh dill and a few spices.

The sauce is impressive yet so simple to make. It’s light, creamy, and packed with dill and citrus flavor. We love to serve it over grilled salmon but it works with any seafood.

  • Sour cream: Adds a slight tang to the sauce. You can use Greek yogurt instead!
  • Mayonnaise: Creates a creamy base.
  • Lemon Juice: Adds a nice lemony flavor.
  • Dill: The star of the sauce. Use more if you love dill.
  • Spices: Garlic powder, onion powder and salt add extra flavor.

  1. Whisk all the ingredients together in a small bowl.
  2. Use the lemon dill sauce immediately or store it in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Tips For Success

  • Choose your favorite brand of mayonnaise. Avoid miracle whip! It has a different flavor and doesn’t make a great base for this sauce.
  • Use fresh dill! Avoid using dried dill if at all possible. Fresh dill will yield a better-tasting sauce.
  • Fresh lemon juice will make all the difference as well. While bottled can be used, fresh is going to taste the best.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons finely chopped dill
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Mix the sour cream, mayonnaise, lemon juice, dill, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt together in a small bowl.
  • Use immediately with salmon or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Notes

  • Sour cream: This recipe works great with Greek yogurt as well.
  • Mayonnaise: You can leave this out and use all sour cream or all Greek yogurt instead.
  • Dill: Use fresh dill! Dried dill will not give the best flavor.
