There’s nothing better than a vegetable tray paired with a cool creamy dip. It’s the perfect party snack food. This veggie dip is so easy to whip up, plus it tastes incredible.
We love to make this dip when we have family or friends come to spend the weekend with us. It’s filled with so much flavor. You can make a batch and serve it through the week.
We use a combination of mayo and sour cream but you can use all sour cream and skip the mayo for a lighter, creamier dip. The fresh dill is the star and is the reason for the delightful flavor.
Our creamy tahini sauce and green goddess pesto are also great dip options when serving fresh vegetables.
Why This Recipe Works
- It’s ready in 5 minutes. Just add all the ingredients to a bowl and mix them.
- The ratio of fresh herbs and spices combine to make a flavorful dip. The taste is very similar to ranch dressing.
- It keeps well and tastes best the day after it is made.
Ingredients
For the ingredient measurements and the entire recipe, be sure to scroll down to the bottom of the blog post where the recipe card is located.
- Sour cream: We use sour cream for a perfectly creamy base. Greek yogurt can also be used.
- Mayonnaise: A little bit adds richness to the dip. We like to use ½ cup.
- Fresh herbs: Dill and parsley add great herb-forward flavors.
- Spices: Garlic powder, onion powder, and salt add simple flavors to round out the dip.
- Lemon juice: For a splash of brightness and acidity.

- Combine all ingredients in a bowl.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
- Serve with fresh vegetables.
Tips For Success
- Make sure the herbs are fresh and the spices aren’t expired. This will give you the best-tasting dip.
- I highly encourage you to let the dip meld in the refrigerator for 24 hours before serving. But it can be served the same day after marinating for 30 minutes.
- If you are not a fan of mayo, leave it out and use more sour cream in its place. You can also use softened cream cheese instead. Select the tub-style cream cheese.
